Photo OCR (Extracted from photos)
ProRadiusOS reads every photo you capture during a walkthrough and pulls out any text it finds. Estimates from competitors or insurance adjusters, equipment data plates, meter readings, permits, written quotes - all extracted automatically and shown in an 'Extracted from photos' card on the walkthrough.
What it does
When you finish a walkthrough, RadiusOS runs two AI passes on your photos. The first one is for visual context (used to draft a quote from the whole walkthrough). The second one is OCR: it reads any printed or handwritten text in each photo and pulls it out into a structured list.
You don't have to do anything to turn it on. If your photo has legible text, the text shows up. If your photo is just a damage shot or a generic site photo with no text, no card section appears for it.
Photo OCR runs once per walkthrough during processing, not every time you open the page. The result is saved on the walkthrough so loading the page later is fast.
What it can read
| Type | What it pulls out |
|---|---|
| Estimate | Line items, quantities, unit prices, and the bottom-line total from a printed or handwritten estimate. Comes with a 'Use these line items in a new quote' button. |
| Data plate | Every printed field on an HVAC, water heater, electrical panel, or appliance data plate. Model, serial, MFG date, BTU, voltage, etc. |
| Reading | Meter, gauge, or dial faces. Water meter, gas meter, pressure gauge, temperature display. |
| Permit | Building or inspection permit numbers and jurisdictions. |
| Number | Generic alphanumeric captures. Serial numbers, license plates, phone numbers on business cards, color codes on paint cans. |
| Text | Anything else legible. Hand-written notes, signs, instructions. |
Estimate to quote in one click
When the OCR classifies a photo as an Estimate, the card shows the extracted line items in a table and offers a 'Use these line items in a new quote' button. Click it and RadiusOS:
- Creates a draft Quote on the contact (no new AI call - the line items are already extracted)
- Stamps the source: the Quote knows it was drafted from a specific photo on a specific walkthrough
- Opens the Quote editor so you can review, edit, and send
Review every price before sending. OCR confidence is high on clean printed text but lower on handwriting or blurry photos. The card flags low-confidence items with a 'Review' badge - check those carefully.
When OCR confidence is low
Photos that are blurry, at an angle, or have glare or partial cutoff get a 'Review' badge in the card. The text is still extracted but every value should be double-checked. If a digit was unreadable, RadiusOS uses '?' in the rawText rather than guessing.
If a photo classifies as Estimate but no line items were extracted, the card shows the readable header and asks you to retake the photo with better focus.
