Check in and out of a visit
An appointment tells you when you were meant to be somewhere. A visit tells you what actually happened: when you got there, when you left, and how it went. Tap Check in when you arrive and Check out when you're done, and RadiusOS keeps the record.
Why bother checking in
Most of the time you already know how the day went. The reason to record it is the days you'd rather forget: the one where nobody was home, or the gate was locked, or you got halfway through and had to come back. Those cost you a half-day each and they leave no trace anywhere, so at the end of the month there's nothing to point at.
Checking in and out turns those into something you can count. It also means the time on site is recorded without anyone writing it down, which is the part people never keep up.
How it works
Find the visit
Open a customer and go to the Schedule tab, or open a property and look under Visits.
Check in when you arrive
The visit shows an On site tag, so anyone looking at the record can see where you are.
Check out when you're done
Pick how it went from the Check out list. That records the time you left and closes the visit.
Read it back
The visit then shows how long you were on site and how it ended.
Checking in twice keeps your first arrival time. Tapping the button again won't quietly move it later.
What kind of visit
When you book a visit you can say what it's for. It's optional, and leaving it blank is fine - you shouldn't have to answer a question just to put a time in the diary.
| Kind | What it means |
|---|---|
| Estimate | Nothing gets fixed. You're there to price the work. |
| Work | The job itself. |
| Inspection | Looking at something, often for an insurer or a warranty claim. |
| Warranty | Going back on your own work, and not getting paid for it. |
| Callback | Going back because something went wrong. |
Warranty and callback are kept apart on purpose. One is work you promised; the other is work that came back. They cost the same on the day and mean very different things over a year.
How a visit ended
| Outcome | When to use it |
|---|---|
| Finished | The work you went for is done. |
| Partly done | You got some of it done and need to come back. |
| Couldn't get in | Locked gate, no key, no code. |
| Nobody there | You turned up and the customer didn't. |
| Rescheduled | Moved before or during the visit. |
Couldn't get in and Nobody there look similar and aren't. One you fix by asking for the gate code up front; the other you fix by confirming the day before. Keeping them separate is what lets you tell which one is costing you.
Plans
Visits are on every plan. Recording when you turned up isn't a premium feature.
Visits appear on a property's page too, so you can see every time anyone has been to an address, across every job there.
