Sample Data: Explore, Clear, and Restore
Every new workspace ships pre-loaded with realistic sample contacts, deals, tasks, quotes, and invoices so you can explore RadiusOS before adding any of your own data. You can clear it anytime - and bring it back if you change your mind.
What sample data includes
When you create a workspace, RadiusOS seeds a realistic data set tailored to the template you picked:
- **Contacts and companies** - 6 contacts and 4 companies in different pipeline stages
- **Activities** - emails, calls, and notes attached to those contacts
- **Tasks** - a mix of upcoming, overdue, and completed work
- **Pipeline stages** - contacts already populated across your stages so the Kanban view has shape on day one
- **Quotes and invoices** - sample quotes in draft/sent/accepted states and invoices in sent/paid states (templates with billing enabled)
- **Automations and price book items** - one sample automation showing how triggers wire to actions, plus price book entries that feed quotes
The sample data is template-specific. A Real Estate workspace gets sample listings and clients; a Field Service workspace gets sample jobs and customers; an SMB Sales workspace gets sample deals and contacts. The vocabulary matches your workflow.
The sample data banner
While sample data is in your workspace, you'll see a banner at the top of every page:
> 🧪 **Sample data loaded** · _hint specific to the page you're on_
[Refresh sample data] [Clear all sample data] [×]
- **Refresh sample data** wipes the existing sample rows and re-seeds a fresh batch. Useful if you've moved sample contacts around and want a clean slate.
- **Clear all sample data** permanently deletes every sample row in your workspace. Your real data is untouched.
- **× (close)** hides the banner for your current browser. The next browser or device will see it again until you clear or restore.
Restoring sample data after clearing
After you clear sample data, the banner switches to a restore prompt:
> 🧪 **Want sample data back?** · The fastest way to learn RadiusOS is by exploring sample contacts, deals, tasks, and quotes.
[Restore sample data] [Don't show again]
- **Restore sample data** re-seeds the workspace with the same template-specific fixtures you started with. Your real data stays untouched.
- **Don't show again** hides the restore prompt for the entire workspace - permanently. Useful once you've onboarded fully and don't want the prompt clutter.
"Don't show again" is workspace-wide, not per-user. If you're on a Team plan, dismissing it hides the prompt for every member of the workspace. Reseeding sample data via this banner (or any future Settings path) automatically clears the dismissed flag, so the prompt comes back if you change your mind later.
Telling sample data apart from real data
Sample contacts, companies, activities, tasks, and automations have an internal `isSample` flag, but they're not visually labeled in lists - they look like real records by design, so you can practice the workflows without distractions.
To see only sample data, you'd need to filter on the field directly via the API or MCP server. In practice, most users either keep sample data while learning, or clear it once their real data is loaded.
Clearing sample data is a hard delete. There is no undo, but you can always click "Restore sample data" to bring back the same template-specific fixtures. It won't recover any edits you made to the original sample rows.
When to clear vs. when to keep
| Scenario | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| First day, exploring features | Keep it - the banner hints walk you through every view |
| Importing a real contact list | Keep it until your real data is in - sample contacts won't conflict with imports |
| Sharing your workspace with a teammate | Clear it - real data only avoids confusion |
| Switching to a new template later | Clear before switching, then reseed after - new template, new fixtures |
| Demo to an investor or client | Clear - they should see your real pipeline, not Acme Corp |
